Position Summary: Provides outstanding customer service to JCC members in the Rec & Well / Fitness Department(s) by orienting, educating, supplying, and assisting wherever and whenever required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • CPR/First Aid Certified (The JCC will certify if needed.)
  • The successful candidate is focused on providing JCC members with a stellar customer experience, possesses outstanding verbal and written communication skills and is willing to learn about JCC fitness, recreation and wellness programming and equipment.
  • The position sometimes requires standing and walking for long periods of time and the ability to lift up to 45 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year experience in a similar position preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Fitness Desk – Provides front line customer service for members engaging in fitness programs and services.
  • Learn, understand and communicate accurate knowledge of all services offered by the fitness, recreation and wellness departments.
  • Communicate important department information to appropriate JCC staff (fitness office, aquatics, front desk, trainers, instructors, active manager, housekeepers, maintenance, and member services department) as needed in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Assists with class reservations, program registration, purchasing passes and packages, basic app support and general inquiries.
  • Monitors cardio floor for cleanliness during peak times/seasons while keeping an eye on desk needs.
  • Monitors member needs in person and by phone. Returns voicemails as needed.
  • Troubleshoots minor equipment & systems issues – cable/internet, battery replacement, restarting equipment, communicating updates, etc.
  • Fitness Attendant – Addresses any needs immediately on the fitness floor to ensure cleanliness of equipment and group training areas while attending to member needs.
  • Set up spaces for programs.
  • Tidy bands / weights / accessories and yoga props.
  • Lubricate equipment.
  • Empty fitness floor trash nightly and replenish wipes as needed.
  • Wipe down, or provide detailed cleaning, of equipment as needed.
  • Maintain a standard of excellence (cleanliness) within the cardio floors, weight rooms, stretching areas, studio spaces, racquetball courts, golf simulator, etc. in accordance with a the provided checklist.
  • Circulate in the cardio and weight room areas; speak with members and assist them as appropriate.
  • Provide JCC members outstanding customer service as they navigate the fitness floor.
  • Greet members and staff by name if possible at every point of contact.
  • Educate members on programs and services available through the JCC; including new class offerings.
  • Weekend responsibilities also including circulating throughout the entire JCC building.
  • Proficiency in all JCC software programs and applications; e.g., Paycom, Traction Rec, Upace/My J, Golf Simulator, etc.
  • Report safety, housekeeping, maintenance or any other concerns to Supervisor.
  • Politely enforce fitness floor policies as set forth.
  • All other duties as assigned.
