About The Position

Are you a proactive professional with strong judgment and exceptional financial management skills? The Department of Corrections is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fiscal Management Specialist to join our dynamic business office team. In this vital role, you will perform advanced accounting work, involving the classification, analysis, and reporting of complex financial data at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Dallas. In this position, you will perform professional work involving the preparation, review, and analysis of fiscal information related to general accounting, fund reporting, and financial operations across regional business offices. Your responsibilities will include preparing budget and financial reports for monthly projections, conducting quarterly contract reviews, managing year-end encumbrances, and supporting other budgetary activities for the general, medical, and education funds. Additionally, you will oversee advancement accounts, accounts payable, purchasing card transactions, comptroller and direct charge payments, and accounts receivable processes. Requirements

  • One year as a Financial Programs Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of experience in paraprofessional fiscal administration work, and a bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics, or a related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
