About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Finance and Operations, the Fiscal Coordinator will oversee all Payroll, Benefits, Purchasing and Accounts Receivable functions for the district. This is a classified, full-time, exempt salaried position, eligible for benefits and is not represented.

Requirements

  • State and Federal regulations, RCW's and WAC's relating to Payroll, Retirement, Benefits, Leaves and other accounting functions
  • Bargaining agreements of the district as well as district policies and procedures
  • Interpersonal skills to manage multiple projects, prioritize work, keep and maintain accurate records, meet deadlines
  • Perform all essential duties of the position

  • Read, interpret, apply, communicate and enforce rules, regulations, policies, procedures, laws and codes

  • Operate a computer and other office equipment, including Microsoft Office Suite with high proficiency in Excel
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, in English
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or closely related field required
  • Two years of experience in Payroll and/or Accounting required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain WSP/FBI fingerprint clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Preference to Payroll experience within a Washington State public school system
  • Preference to experience working with Skyward/WSIPC programs
  • Additional experience or education may substitute for either requirement
  • Will be required to participate in ongoing employer mandated training programs

Responsibilities

  • Administer the Payroll, Benefits, and Retirement functions of the district including: Monthly payroll processing for all regular and substitute staff; Administration of leave program; Payroll taxes; W2 processing and any other Payroll-related functions including onboarding of new employees
  • Serve as district point of contact for all payroll, benefit, leave and retirement-related needs
  • Purchasing: Management of vendor database; Issuance of purchase orders; Ensuring procurement regulations are followed; Inventory tracking of district property
  • Accounts Receivable: Receipting all incoming district funds in coordination with Mason County Treasurer's office; Creating and processing of district generated invoices; Reconciling deposits to bank accounts
  • Implement the mission, goals, objectives and policies of the district as adopted by the School Board
