About The Position

Our Fire & Life Safety Directors support Harvard Protection in our goal of providing best in class security and life safety services. Our FSD’s are responsible for providing professional customer-focused security and life safety services for the people and the property they protect and the staff that they may lead.

Requirements

  • Active NYS Security License - Guard Card
  • Minimum High School Diploma, GED or the equivalent
  • Must have Fire Safety Directors license - F-89 K
  • nowledge of or ability to learn fire inspection operations, and procedures
  • Must have reliable means of communication and transportation
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Previous contract security, law enforcement, fire department, military, customer service experience preferred
  • Good organizations skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Write routine detailed correspondence, to include log entries, incident and reporting
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, customer service environment
  • Good time management skills and the ability to prioritize and problem solve
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • Previous contract security, law enforcement, fire department, military, customer service experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a professional demeanor while leading staff and assisting customers, employees, visitors, and guests.
  • Maintain a visible presence in the assigned facility or building.
  • Monitor the environment to detect suspicious and unsafe activity.
  • Become familiar with incoming and outgoing traffic, tenants, visitors, and guests.
  • Answer phones professionally and perform audible announcements clearly.
  • Enforce facility/building policies and procedures within the position's limits.
  • Follow established emergency action plans, fire protection, and safety standards.
  • Monitor alarms and systems as required.
  • Perform operational functions such as scheduling, overtime management, and staff training when necessary.
  • Test and inspect fire extinguishers and other fire protection devices to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare reports on inspections, violations, and recommendations.
  • Perform fire drills and additional safety duties as needed.
  • May provide fire-fighting duties during emergencies and train others in emergency response plans.
