Fire Prevention Inspector I/II/III
About The Position
Nature of Work: Performs specialized field and office work in fire prevention with responsibility for administration and enforcement of fire safety codes, laws, and ordinances and includes inspection of commercial buildings to ensure compliance. Initiative and judgment must be exercised to recognize fire hazards and acquire code compliance. Field work exposes employee to varying weather conditions, chemicals, noxious fumes, insects, heights, and confined areas. Work is performed under general supervision, according to established guidelines, and is reviewed through daily conferences.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate
- six (6) months to one (1) year experience in fire inspection, fire prevention or related field (Fire Prevention Inspector I)
- two to three (2-3) years experience in fire inspection, fire prevention (Fire Prevention Inspector II)
- four (4) or more years experience in fire inspection, fire prevention (Fire Prevention Inspector III)
- State of Florida Fire Safety Inspector Certification from the Division of State Fire Marshal
- valid Florida Driver's License
- Must pass a background check which includes a polygraph
