About The Position

SUMMARY: Under general supervision, is responsible for performing ongoing inspections of construction projects to ensure they are completed per approved plans, specifications, and approved shop drawing submittals. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology or related field preferred.
  • Must have familiarity of general and utility construction practices.
  • Must have previous experience with computer applications and possess the ability to operator BJWSA-specific software.
  • Certified Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Inspector (CEPSCI) certification preferred.
  • Class D Water Distribution Operator and Class D Wastewater Collections license preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Performs inspections and observations of projects for BJWSA to ensure projects are completed per approved plans, specifications, and approved shop drawings.
  • Inspects and ensures materials on-site for projects meet specifications and are installed, tested and accepted in accordance with BJWSA technical requirements.
  • Observes installation, work in progress, and testing to ensure work and documents observations in daily inspections reports, in accord with Department requirements. Inspection reports include general notes and photographs construction progress, documenting field conditions and measurements.
  • Informs engineers and contractors of observed deficiencies, recommends corrective measures and follows up to ensure compliance. Communicates effectively with supervisors and others within the Engineering Dept.
  • Reviews plans prior to pre-construction meetings and is responsible for on-going coordination in the field of to-do items review and discussed at the pre-construction meetings.
  • For approximately 6-weeks each year, will be a part of the in-office land development design review team responsible for issuing construction permits.
  • Assists senior staff as needed and performs other duties as required.
