The Finishing Operator is responsible for safely setting up and operating finishing equipment to produce quality products according to specifications, procedures, and output requirements, as well as preparing products for shipment. ITW Specialty Films manufactures and markets specialized coated films for the Secure ID, Medical Specialty Bag, and Financial Card markets. Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Related experience in manufacturing environment preferred, including basic equipment operation, product inspection and material handling
  • Experience with slitting or converting machines a plus

Responsibilities

  • Safely setup and operate finishing equipment to produce quality product in accordance with specifications, procedures, and output requirements.
  • Prepare products for shipment.
  • Set up and operate the assigned finishing equipment, which includes: table top, editing, and slitting, ensuring finished product meets quality and accuracy standards.
  • Set up and operate packing equipment, including box formers, auto baggers, flow wrapper, heat shrink equipment, and scanning/programming equipment.
  • Set machines controls and make needed adjustments before and during machine operations using machine’s computerized and/or manual controls including speed, tension, footage, web tracking, blade setting, measuring web width, etc.
  • Perform routine inspections of products as the material is produced.
  • Inspect, flag, and eliminate bad material as required.
  • Submit required samples to the quality team and work cross functionally to ensure product quality.
  • Proactively notify management of potential quality issues which might result in failure to meet customer commitments.
  • Perform safe material handling duties such as retrieving material from cages, racks, and warehouse; and relocating bins, boxes, and skids of material.
  • Prepare product for shipment. May include trimming and/or pressing rolls; applying flanges; printing and applying tags and/or labels to rolls and boxes; bagging rolls; packing rolls into boxes, and other packaging requirements.
  • Notify management of low levels of inventory on supplies, such as boxes, cores, bags, etc.
  • Review, update or maintain proper written production, quality, and inventory documentation. This includes schedules, work orders, inventory systems, production sheets and quality logs.
  • Read, understand, and follow engineering drawings and other product specifications, contained in the job jackets.
  • Read, understand, and follow all SOPs for assigned tasks.
  • Perform routine operator level maintenance and cleaning on equipment.
  • Cross train on tasks within department and operator level as assigned, based on business needs.
  • Train other operators on tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area, and other general housekeeping duties.
  • Strictly adhere to safety regulations, security regulations and work policies.
  • Participate in site safety programs, such as safety catches, safety audits, safety trainings, etc.
  • Perform other duties assigned based on business need.
