About The Position

The Financial Wellbeing Communication & Program Coordinator is a key contributor to Meritrust Credit Union’s mission of empowering members to achieve financial health. This role combines program coordination, strategic communication, and educational outreach to deliver impactful financial wellness initiatives. The coordinator will manage program logistics, develop engaging digital and in-person content, and collaborate across departments to ensure alignment and maximize member engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
  • Certification in financial counseling.
  • Proven experience in financial counseling, coaching or planning (at least 2-3 years preferred).
  • Proven experience in financial counseling, coaching or planning (minimum 2-3 years preferred).
  • Previous experience in the financial services or credit union industry.
  • Knowledge of personal financial fundamentals, understanding of budgeting, saving, debt management credit scores and financial goal setting.
  • Understanding of loans, credit cards, checking/savings accounts, and how they impact financial health.
  • Strong expertise with counseling techniques, confidentiality standards, and ethical practices.
  • Awareness of applicable laws and regulations (e.g., Fair Credit Reporting Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act).
  • Understanding how emotions and behaviors influence financial decisions.
  • Ability to use financial calculators, budgeting software, and online education platforms
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to simplify complex financial concepts for diverse audiences. Public speaking and presentation skills required.
  • Project Management: Skilled in planning, prioritizing, and managing multiple projects to meet deadlines.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to establish trust and foster collaborative relationships across departments and with community partners.
  • Financial Expertise: Proficiency in financial planning tools and techniques; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Empathy & Coaching: Ability to work patiently and effectively with individuals from varied financial backgrounds.
  • Critical Thinking: Strong decision-making skills under pressure; adaptable to changing member and business needs.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial tools, spreadsheets, budgeting apps, and CRM systems.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations and logistics of financial wellness programs to ensure smooth execution.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive program plans informed by member needs assessments and organizational goals.
  • Coordinate schedules for activities and events, including venue arrangements, equipment setup, and participant registration.
  • Monitor program budgets, track expenditures, and ensure cost-effective delivery of initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate participant and program records in CRM systems for compliance and reporting.
  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders (HR, Marketing, Growth teams) and external vendors or community partners.
  • Act as a liaison between Financial Wellbeing and Growth teams to craft digital strategies (blogs, reels, social media).
  • Coordinate monthly huddles for program champions, financial camps, and annual awards through ACU.
  • Represent Meritrust at community events and foster partnerships to expand program reach.
  • Create, curate, and maintain educational content on topics such as budgeting, credit management, debt reduction, and savings strategies.
  • Collaborate with financial counselors and subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and relevance of materials.
  • Develop content for multiple channels, including blogs, social media, email campaigns, and workshops.
  • Manage the Financial Wellbeing website landing page and ensure brand consistency.
  • Design interactive tools and resources to support financial counseling sessions.
  • Ensure all content complies with regulatory requirements and organizational standards.
  • Design and implement marketing and outreach strategies to promote program awareness and participation.
  • Monitor engagement metrics and adjust content strategies to improve reach and impact.
  • Collect and analyze data related to program participation, satisfaction, and outcomes.
  • Prepare and submit reports detailing program progress, engagement, and impact.
