About The Position

This position is for a financial specialist to support the Wisconsin Centers for Nanoscale Technology (WCNT). The financial specialist will provide financial support to WCNT staff as well as internal and external users of the facilities. Duties will include center billing, budgeting, expense tracking, financial reporting, preparing purchase orders and assisting staff with purchasing and travel reimbursements. This position reports to the WCNT Director. Partial remote work available after a training period has been completed.

Requirements

HS diploma with one year of relevant experience in business, accounting, or finance
Professional level and highly efficient use of Microsoft Office (Outlook and Excel)

Nice To Haves

Working knowledge of Workday
UW Purchasing and other UW financial systems
Experience with purchasing, records management, financial reporting and financial policies
Experience with Microsoft Access or SQL
The ability to work independently with limited supervision
Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree

Responsibilities

Drafts communications and advanced reports and maintains organization of varied records to provide administrative support within a specified work unit
Reallocates expenses to appropriate funding strings
Audits, monitors, organizes, and updates fiscal records, reports, and affiliated materials
Audits or reconciles original purchase documents with payments
Audits or processes advanced transactions and assigns funding codes in accordance with established rules, regulations, and policies
Creates general reporting for transactions
Answers advanced fiscal questions and provides information based on set materials and standards to various audiences
Reviews transaction processing internal controls and recommends policies and procedures
