About The Position

The Senior Accountant will serve as the local finance lead for U.S. manufacturing operations, partnering closely with operations, supply chain, and leadership while coordinating daily with a remote accounting team. This role requires strong knowledge of technical accounting, sound judgment, and the ability to translate operational activity into accurate financial results. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This individual will own key areas including inventory accounting, cost and gross margin analysis, cycle count governance, payroll reconciliation, and month-end close leadership, while driving continuous process improvement and strong internal controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 6+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls
  • Proven experience in manufacturing accounting, including inventory and cost accounting
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound professional judgment
  • Advanced Excel skills: strong experience with ERP systems (Epicor preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the monthly close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements
  • Review and approve journal entries related to inventory, cost of goods sold, payroll, accruals, and reserves
  • Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the remote accounting team
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company accounting policies, and internal controls
  • Maintain strong close discipline, documentation, and audit trail
  • Own inventory accounting and reconciliation between sub-ledger and general ledger
  • Lead and govern cycle count processes across four manufacturing sites, including: Policy implementation Review of count results and adjustments Coordination with operations and supply chain
  • Review inventory adjustments, reserves, and excess & obsolete analysis
  • Partner with operations to resolve inventory variances and process gaps
  • Review daily job closing results and production cost activity
  • Oversee standard cost vs. actual cost analysis and manufacturing variances
  • Perform detailed gross margin analysis by part, customer, and product line
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities impacting margins and operational performance
  • Support monthly forecasting and budget activities related to manufacturing costs
  • Assist with annual financial audit and tax return preparation
  • Ensure documentation meets internal control and audit requirements
  • Identify and implement process improvements in close, inventory, and costing workflows
  • Coordinate daily with a remote accounting team to ensure accurate execution and timely handoffs
  • Provide guidance, review, and escalation support for offshore accounting activities
  • Collaborate with operations, supply chain, IT, and FP&A to support business objectives
