About The Position

The Financial Management Analyst – Audit Liaison & Assessable Unit Support provides direct support to the Department of Defense Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR) program by serving as a central coordination point between external auditors, Government stakeholders, and assessable unit (AU) owners. This role is responsible for managing audit engagement activities, facilitating timely responses to auditor requests, and supporting assessable units throughout the audit lifecycle. The analyst ensures audit requests are properly tracked, documented, and resolved while supporting audit sustainment and remediation efforts in accordance with FIAR guidance and DoD audit requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience supporting financial audits, FIAR initiatives, audit liaison functions, or DoD financial management programs.
  • Experience working directly with auditors, assessable unit owners, or audit response tracking tools is preferred.
  • Knowledge of DoD financial audit processes and FIAR methodology.
  • Experience coordinating audit requests, PBCs, and supporting documentation.
  • Strong organizational and tracking skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interaction with auditors and senior stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting Independent Public Accountants (IPAs) or DoD financial statement audits.
  • Familiarity with NFR tracking, audit sustainment, or remediation frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary audit liaison for assigned assessable units and functional areas.
  • Coordinate and manage auditor requests, Prepared-By-Client (PBC) items, and data calls.
  • Ensure audit requests are properly assigned, tracked, and responded to within established timelines.
  • Support assessable unit owners during audit walkthroughs, testing, and inquiries.
  • Assist assessable units in identifying, gathering, and validating audit evidence.
  • Ensure consistency and completeness of audit responses across assessable units.
  • Track Notices of Findings and Recommendations (NFRs), observations, and audit issues.
  • Assist in coordinating responses to audit findings and support remediation efforts.
  • Monitor corrective action plans (CAPs) and support audit sustainment activities.
  • Maintain audit request trackers, issue logs, and supporting documentation repositories.
  • Prepare audit status reports, metrics, and briefings for Government leadership.
  • Ensure audit documentation complies with FIAR guidance and Government quality standards.
  • Facilitate communication between auditors, assessable unit owners, FIAR leadership, and other stakeholders.
  • Schedule and support audit meetings, walkthroughs, and briefings.
  • Support knowledge transfer and continuity through development of desk procedures and SOPs.
