About The Position

As a Financial Counselor, you will play a key role in supporting patients by helping manage their accounts with care and accuracy. This includes verifying insurance, guiding patients through their financial options, and assisting with both insurance and self-pay billing and collections. This role operates within a collaborative, team-oriented environment where clear communication and attention to detail are essential. You will work closely with the financial team and other departments to ensure a smooth office flow and a positive experience for every patient. The position focuses on patient retention, creative problem-solving, and building ongoing relationships to help patients navigate financial aspects of care with confidence.

Requirements

Demonstrated knowledge of third-party and insurance company operating procedures, regulations and billing requirements
Experience with Microsoft Office suite and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
Ability to effectively establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships
Effectively prioritize competing responsibilities, with a sensitivity toward matters which are time sensitive
Exercise a high level of discretion and sensitivity to patient privacy
Ability to recognize, evaluate, solve problems and correct errors
High School diploma or equivalent is required
Minimum of 2 years' experience offering financial counseling in a health care related field

Set up and manage payment plans
Assist with insurance benefit verification and authorizations
Help patients complete insurance and financial assistance applications
Serve as a liaison between patients, internal departments, and insurance carriers
Ensure clear communication and prompt resolution of account-related questions
Collect and process payments
Issue refunds
Maintain accurate documentation and spreadsheets
Ensure all processes align with departmental guidelines
