About The Position

This position reports to the VP Accounting /Finance and aids in the Strategic Financial Management of the Credit Union. Under general supervision, the Financial Analyst supports the credit union’s accounting and reporting functions by generating, analyzing, and interpreting financial data from multiple internal systems. The role develops and maintains spreadsheets and analytical models to support financial reporting, regulatory Call Report requirements, and broader financial analysis. The analyst collaborates across departments, provides reporting and analytical support to business units, contributes to system and process improvements, and cross-trains to ensure continuity of critical functions. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of experience of 5 years in finance analysis and budget forecast.
  • Working knowledge of a variety of financial products and services.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of or eager to adopt Credit Union environment, operations and information flow.
  • Knowledge of related computer applications (Excel, Word, ERP Systems, Accounting Software)
  • Well organized, accurate and attentive to details.

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Domo, or Tableau.
  • Previous credit union or financial institution experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Aid in the planning and formulation of basic policies and programs which will further the financial objectives of the credit union.
  • Ensure that the VP of Accounting/Finance is kept fully informed on the conditions and financial operations of the Credit Union and on all important factors influencing them.
  • Assist in the establishment, maintenance, and monitoring of internal controls as well as policies and procedures for the Finance function.
  • Aid in the direction and coordination of all approved programs, projects, and major activities of the Finance department.
  • Assist the VP of Accounting/Finance with respect to audits and examinations.
  • Aid in the development and operate within an annual budget.
  • Continue education to remain constantly aware of new ideas and approaches to performing a more efficient and effective function as an aid to the Finance team.
  • Ensure that all Finance Department policies and procedures comply with GAAP and prudent banking practices.
  • Project and monitor the Credit Unions daily cash position to ensure that liquidity is sufficient to meet operational requirements.
  • Prepare accurate financial reports for the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, CFO, President, NCUA and other government entities as may be required under Federal and State laws.
  • Perform analysis to summarize and explain the impacts on the financial statements and/or other benchmarks.
  • Stay informed of trends and changes in the finance field.
  • Ensure the department work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
  • Ensure that appropriate levels of confidentiality and security are maintained.
  • Completes special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required by the VP Accounting/Finance and CFO.
  • Complies with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) rules and regulations, in addition to Customer Identification Program (CIP).
  • Attends required annual BSA training and required compliance training.
  • Assist with all other duties as assigned or identified.
