About The Position

The group you’ll be a part of A high performing global Finance team supporting Lam Research's Chief Technology Officer organization. This role sits at the intersection of finance, technology, and innovation, enabling the CTO organization to make smarter, value-driven R&D investments. The Finance Manager will support how innovation is funded, measured, and scaled—while safeguarding financial discipline and trust. The impact you’ll make This role offers the opportunity to influence the financial strategy of R&D investments, directly support innovation outcomes, and act as a trusted finance partner to business and technical leaders—while maintaining strong financial stewardship for the organization. What you’ll do This role serves as a key finance partner to CTO and R&D leadership, supporting portfolio strategy, R&D program economics, and long-term technology roadmaps. The position blends forward-looking business partnership and value analysis with product line controllership, enabling informed investment decisions across early-stage research, platform development, and advanced R&D programs—while maintaining financial integrity, compliance, and operational rigor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • 8–12 years of progressive finance experience, including: – Business partnering with technical and business leaders – FP&A and value/ROI analysis – Accounting responsibility
  • Experience supporting R&D, engineering, or innovation-driven organizations
  • Solid knowledge of financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting standards
  • Proven ability to influence in a matrixed environment

Nice To Haves

  • CPA and/or MBA
  • Experience in semiconductor capital equipment or similar high technology industry
  • Background in R&D portfolio management or innovation investment governance
  • Experience leveraging advanced analytics or AI tools to support investment decisions

Responsibilities

  • Act as a lead finance partner to Program/Product Line R&D leaders, supporting strategic and operational decisions.
  • Provide financial analysis for R&D portfolios and programs, including business cases, ROI analysis, scenario modeling, and funding strategies.
  • Drive value-based decision-making across the R&D lifecycle (concept, development, launch, and post-launch performance).
  • Translate complex financial data into clear insights and recommendations for leadership.
  • Support long-range planning, strategic roadmap development, and capital allocation decisions.
  • Lead financial planning and analysis for R&D programs, including: • Program budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis • Headcount and resource modeling • Milestone-based funding and performance tracking
  • Partner with program managers to identify cost, schedule, and value risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Establish and improve R&D financial governance, metrics, and dashboards.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting.
  • Support monthly close, accruals, reserves, and financial statements for the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, accounting standards (US GAAP/IFRS as applicable), and internal controls (SOX).
  • Partner with Corporate Finance, Accounting, and Audit teams on reporting, audits, and policy implementation.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and analytical capabilities.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and value creation across the organization.
