About The Position

The Financial Aid Specialist II serves as the main point of contact for document intake, resolving financial aid questions, explaining students’ awards, responding to email solicitations to the Financial Aid Office mailbox, assisting with all student orientations, FAFSA presentations, and assisting with all other tasks assigned. This position requires a person who is accustomed to working in a high-volume work environment, coupled with a lot of detailed work. The individual must be able to demonstrate that they are able to follow directions and work independently. Accuracy is a key component in this position, coupled with attention to detail. Applicant cannot be in default on any Federal Student Loans.

Responsibilities

  • Answering telephone calls from students, staff, and potential donors to the University.
  • First point of contact for all potential financial aid recipients.
  • Provide frontline solutions for students, staff, and potential donors to the University.
  • Direct students, staff, and potential donors how to apply for Federal Financial Aid, State Aid, State Aid, and Institutional Aid with TXWES .
  • Responds to email solicitations received in the Financial Aid mail electronic mailbox in a reasonable amount of time.
  • Assesses, when to forward the correspondence on to other staff, when required.
  • Responsible for the intake and scanning of all financial aid documents.
  • Must ensure that documents are screened for accuracy prior to scanning.
  • Must be able to keep up with scanning of document during peak processing time.
  • Assist with scheduling Financial Aid Meetings, ordering supplies for the office, proof-reading new materials, and other miscellaneous office duties assigned by the Director of Financial Aid or Associate Director of Financial Aid.
  • Participate in Financial Aid Orientations with Financial Aid Advisors.
  • Assist with FAFSA presentations to students, staff, and potential donors.
  • Assist with High School Nights and screening of Scholarships.
  • Assist the Associate Director of Financial Aid with modification of forms.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the Financial Aid Office has new material ordered for sending out the New Year Awards, as well as keeping the office on track for a successful launch for the New Year.
  • Responsible for ensuring that The Financial Aid Office does not overspend their assigned budget, as well as keeping the office in line with State and Federal deadlines.
  • Serve as the backup for Document Processing of incoming ISIRs.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Financial Aid or Associate Director of Financial Aid.
