Job Overview/Summary: The Finance Coordinator is a member of the IRC Denver Finance team and is responsible for essential accounting functions related to accounts payable and accounts receivable, monthly and closing assistance, and various reports to donors and HQ. This Finance Coordinator reports directly to the Deputy Director of Finance.

Requirements

  • Formal accounting or bookkeeping training and/or coursework required; 4-year degree in related field strongly preferred
  • 3 + years professional work experience with accounting and bookkeeping procedures and standards
  • Strong commitment to ensuring the success of the IRC mission while adhering to the values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality as defined in the IRC Way
  • Solid computer-based accounting skills, including spreadsheets and other financial related software programs
  • Proficient in general office software programs like MS Word, Excel, email, and internet
  • Proven track record to work as a team member in a cross-cultural environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Ability to optimally work with remote teams through telephone, email, videoconference, and other methods of correspondence
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with IRC’s accounting policies and procedures, as well as generally accepted accounting principles and donor requirements, for both the office and donors.
  • Coordinate the implementation of IRC's internal control procedures to safeguard the organization's assets.
  • Support daily financial activities: Prepare entries and approve invoice journals Invoice and report on Accounts Receivables Resolve journal entry discrepancies
  • Assist in the following month-end/year-end closing tasks: Prepare monthly billing with review of account transactions to ensure accurate coding and completeness Analyze variances Reconcile accounts Submit finance reports
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive understanding of donor policies, regulations, and procedures, and share this knowledge with the programs team.
  • Supervise Finance Specialists.
  • Serve as back-up to Deputy Director of Finance for key day-to-day duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.
