About The Position

The Facilities Management Department is seeking a Finance Business Analyst who is enthusiastic and passionate about fiscal analysis, research, and reporting. This position will be responsible for various budget and accounting duties, working closely with our project management team. Experience in budget monitoring, journal entries, and capital assets is preferred. As the landlord for all facilities owned by Maricopa County, the Facilities Management Department is responsible for the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operations of more than 200 facilities comprised of over 10 million square feet. Facilities Management is a collaborative team that provides and performs various functions to meet the facility-related needs of all Maricopa County Departments. Our broad range of services includes ongoing operations and maintenance of all County-owned facilities, management of all facility projects, and in-house design services.

Requirements

  • Two years of professional-level financial or budgeting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
  • An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis

Nice To Haves

  • Five years of experience in accounting and/or auditing, performing budgetary and finance activities in a government environment using a large-scale financial system
  • Experience with CGI Advantage system
  • Advanced proficiency using spreadsheets and databases

Responsibilities

  • Execute routine monthly journal entries, internal exchange transfers, and other financial transactions, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established accounting standards
  • Monitor and reconcile capital expenditures against approved budget allocations, notifying leadership of any significant variances or issues
  • Review procurements against capital projects to ensure budget capacity and funding string appropriateness
  • Collaborate with the Office of Budget & Finance to capitalize assets (buildings, land, and equipment) upon capital project completion
  • Lead coordination efforts with Risk Management to track claims, mitigate financial exposure, and secure reimbursements
  • Prepare and distribute monthly budget reports for capital projects
  • Forecast expenditures for over 40 complex Capital Project budgets on a quarterly basis
  • Deposit and process cash receipts for recycling and auction revenues
  • Coordinate with FMD Capital Facilities to develop strategic annual and five-year CIP budgets, ensuring alignment with county budget guidelines and long-term capital planning goals
  • Approve monthly postage payments, reconcile the CGI postage upload from the vendor, and send out a summary of postage charges to County departments
