About The Position

As the Finance/Budget Manager for the Institute of Biological Chemistry (IBC), you will be responsible for the overall financial management and administrative functions of the department. In this role, you will use significant independent judgment while assisting the Director with, but not limited to, administrative affairs associated with human resources, overseeing accounting, budget (allocations), and finance, temporary & permanent commitments, department process improvement, training, developing and implementing policies, procedures, and practices to ensure university, state and federal compliance. The IBC has a long history of excellence in fundamental and applied plant biochemistry research. Mentoring the next generation of scientists and leaders is a second area of distinction. The institute houses 90 scientists in 10 research teams. Annual research expenditures at the IBC exceed $ 7.5 million from diverse funding sources

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and four (4) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience.
  • Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
  • One year administrative experience in scientific, academic, and/or research organization.
  • Computer literacy.
