The Finance & Accounting Intern will work with the Finance & Accounting department. The Finance & Accounting team is responsible for all financial and accounting operations of the organization. This includes transactional processing, such as payment of the organization's invoices, payroll, and cash receipts. In addition, the Finance function provides financial and tax reporting, budgeting, and forecasting across the organization.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting or Finance and is a rising junior or senior.
  • Experience in Financial and Management Accounting, Cost Accounting, or similar.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel.
  • Due to the nature of CSBS’s business in support of state financial services supervision, all CSBS employees have the potential of interacting with confidential information related to the supervision of financial services companies (“Confidential Supervisory Information”). As a result, in addition to general business conflicts of interest, all CSBS employees are expected to disclose conflicts of interest in financial services companies on at least an annual basis and to proactively avoid such conflicts.
  • Protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of CSBS information and information systems in accordance with CSBS policies and procedures.
  • Candidate must be in the DC area and able to work in the CSBS office as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of journal entries as well as preparing revenue and trend analysis.
  • Receive assignments related to specialized accounting processes, such as payments processing, billing, and cash receipts
  • Develop an overall understanding of how these systems are utilized across the entire organization as well as the internal controls related to them.
