About The Position

The Field Utility Construction Manager oversees on-site utility construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with design specifications and quality standards. This role coordinates all aspects of field operations, including subcontractors, materials, equipment, and labor, while serving as the primary point of contact between the construction site and project stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Secondary degree in related field or equivalent level of field experience.
  • Experience in Construction and Maintenance of Electrical Transmission and Distribution Systems, or Substation Facilities required.
  • General knowledge of electric line work and/or substation construction.
  • Basic knowledge of industry codes governing the electric industry, including NEC, NESC, and OSHA.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively resolve problems & help minimize change orders.
  • Review contractor invoices and schedules and provide feedback.
  • Active monitoring of external crews’ performance to ensure all assigned tasks are completed according to specifications and deadlines. This includes regular on-site presence and communication with the teams.
  • Providing technical assistance, including switching and tagging support, to expedite project completion and maintain optimal workflow. Initiate distribution outage requests
  • Be present at all times onsite when work is being performed.
  • Immediate notification to project manager of all problems or foreseeable issues throughout construction, or any complaint presented by the general public.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications, quality and adherence to construction schedules.
  • All other tasks as assigned by management.
