About The Position

The Field Services Technician for Landscape Products Group provides consistent, dependable, and conscientious technical products and sales support to customers within a designated service area. Support is delivered both remotely- phone or software and on-site. This role focuses heavily on servicing and supporting large, computer-based central irrigation systems across multiple communication platforms. A key responsibility is building and developing a revenue stream through billable technical services while maintaining strong customer relationships.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience selling
  • Knowledge of landscape products, power equipment and related parts is highly preferred
  • Must have excellent selling, written and verbal communication and customer service skills
  • Must be good with people, extremely tactful and professional
  • Must maintain annual manufacturer training requirements
  • Must live within the designated responsible territory
  • Must be able to maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets insurance standards
  • Proficient in Microsoft products
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or a minimum of 3 years of hands-on field installation experience in irrigation and/or landscape lighting
  • Hands-on technical experience in electrical systems, hydraulic principles, central-control irrigation platforms, and proficient with cellular, radio, Ethernet, and GPS technologies
  • Experience with central control systems such as Toro, WeatherTrak, Baseline, and Rain Bird
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Self-motivated and highly organized
  • Excellent customer communication skills
  • Ability to manage billable time effectively
  • Mechanical aptitude with technical systems
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Professional appearance and customer-first mindset
  • Frequent local and overnight travel within assigned service territory
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs
  • Outdoor work in various weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license required

Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing and resolving irrigation system issues (electrical and hydraulic)
  • Service and support central and satellite control irrigation platforms
  • Perform communication checks and site surveys
  • Conduct controller repair, programming, and firmware/software upgrades
  • Install and configure antennas, modems, radios, weather stations, and decoders
  • Perform voltage checks, grounding checks, wire tracking, and cable repairs
  • Conduct flow sensor diagnostics and repairs
  • Set up cellular, Ethernet, UHF radio, and remote access communication systems
  • Provide consultation services (planning, design access, site evaluation)
  • Accurately bill services per established fiscal year pricing structure
  • Efficiently manage scheduling and daily workflow
  • Troubleshoot field electrical and hydraulic irrigation issues
  • Trace and track wire safely and competently
  • Provide best-practice installation guidance when requested
  • Assist in pump sizing (submersible and centrifugal)
  • Understand and support pump controls (pressure tanks, relays, level controls)
  • Assist with irrigation material take-offs
  • Utilize GPS equipment for control system audits and assessments
  • Support contractor training and education efforts
