About The Position

The Field Engineer at Aqua-Chem is responsible for providing on-site assistance with commissioning of wastewater equipment for Aqua-Chem’s diverse customer base. The individual will provide an ongoing interface with the customer and production staff acting as a technical consultant to assure our equipment operates both efficiently and economically, resulting in maximum operational uptime in our customer’s facilities. The Field Engineer is the face of Aqua-Chem to our customer, integral to meeting our customer satisfaction goals.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Able to work overtime as required
  • Must have ability to travel - generally by air and utilization of a rental car – extensively for position up to 75%
  • Work requires accurate and coordinated manual skills
  • Work requires moderate physical exertion
  • Bachelor’s degree in a field of Engineering and/or equivalency in certifications
  • Minimum of 3 years technical training in the wastewater industry or transferrable industry experience.
  • Previous On-Site Customer Service experience
  • Experience reading and editing PLC, HMI programs, and VFD’s.
  • Understanding of PID loops and basic tuning parameters.
  • Understanding of various water purification equipment and process operations
  • Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Demonstrated ability to work within various customer environments, understanding that he/she is the face of Aqua-Chem to our markets.
  • Basic understanding of water chemistry
  • Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter, and able to adapt and change to given circumstances at customer facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the testing of new equipment prior to its commissioning to the customer
  • Assist in the technical service and support to our client base within their wastewater facilities
  • Provide technical service and support to the production staff during the testing phase of equipment
  • Ability to solve technical problems related to wastewater treatment equipment seeking assistance when needed
  • Provide recommended solutions and/or modification to equipment or operational protocol as required
  • Help in performing installations, repairs, troubleshooting, performance testing and/or modifications of equipment at customer job site.
  • Assign, instruct, and oversee customers (or subcontractors) in the performance of technical duties while on site when needed.
  • Maintain sound working relationships, while being a liaison between Aqua-Chem and the customer personnel
  • Work within a team environment at customer facilities to solve operational issues, commission equipment, and provide consultative support.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, including Electrical Schematics, PFD’s and PI&D’s
  • Assist when needed the Technical Writer in the writing of installation instructions when needed.
  • Check documents for completeness before carrying out site work.
  • Control the Health & Safety documents and monitor and that they are applied on site.
  • Independently perform tasks within the project budget and schedule.
  • Become a valued extension of the customer’s team.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.
