About The Position

This organization is a leading developer and manufacturer of advanced industrial X-ray inspection and imaging systems used across multiple high-technology sectors — including aerospace, defense, automotive, and electronics manufacturing. With U.S. headquarters in the Northeast and operations across North America and Europe, the company has built a strong reputation for precision engineering, innovation, and reliability over several decades. Its solutions support non-destructive testing (NDT), quality assurance, and industrial automation applications for some of the world’s most recognized OEMs and component suppliers. The business combines mechanical, electrical, and software engineering expertise to deliver complex imaging systems customized to customer requirements. The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for a broad range of activities related to the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of the company’s specialized X-ray inspection systems. The position involves both on-site fieldwork and remote technical support, with a significant portion of travel to customer sites across the United States (and occasionally abroad). You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams — including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers — to ensure the delivery of world-class customer service and the optimal performance of systems in the field.

  • Knowledge of pneumatics, relay logic, machine guarding, and relevant safety standards (UL, CE, etc.).
  • Prior exposure to X-ray imaging or non-destructive testing technologies is an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical or similar CAD software.

Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, and service X-ray inspection systems and components at customer sites.
  • Diagnose and repair system faults, replacing or reconfiguring components as necessary.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and performance testing of installed systems.
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support and customer training.
  • Review and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings to support system integration and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain detailed documentation, including service reports and configuration updates.
  • Assist with wiring, panel building, and debugging PLC or PC-based control programs.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable safety and quality standards (U.S. and European).
  • Collaborate with production and design teams to refine system documentation and improve product reliability.
