About The Position

Symbotic is seeking a Field Service & Deployment Engineer to join its Field Operations team within the Operations organization. This role is crucial for deploying, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting the company's automated forklift systems at customer sites. The position is highly hands-on, ensuring autonomous robotic solutions are successfully installed, operate reliably, and deliver immediate value to customers. The Field Operations team, part of the Operations organization, is responsible for deploying, supporting, and optimizing Symbotic’s forklift robotics solutions (formerly Fox Robotics) in real-world customer environments. This involves direct interaction with customers to install new systems, maintain uptime, resolve technical issues, and ensure long-term performance. The team also acts as a vital link between field operations and internal Engineering, Product, and Support teams, providing insights to enhance product reliability, deployment processes, and overall customer experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in field service, robotics, automation, industrial equipment, or a similar technical role.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and basic software systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Experience using hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and technical documentation.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with customers and cross-functional internal teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently, valid driver’s license, and ability to lift or work around industrial equipment as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support on-site deployments of autonomous robotic systems, including installation, calibration, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software issues in real time to minimize downtime and restore system performance.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and system health checks to ensure reliable operation.
  • Support remote diagnostics and respond to escalations in partnership with Engineering and Technical Support teams.
  • Train customer operators and site personnel on system operation, safety procedures, and best practices.
  • Document all field service activity including repairs, troubleshooting steps, photos, and site conditions for internal tracking and continuous improvement.
  • Travel frequently to customer sites (up to 100%) and work independently in dynamic warehouse and industrial environments.
