About The Position

The Field Sales Merchandising Representative acts as an extension of the Sales team for Portland Coffee Roasters. Providing courteous, professional, and timely delivery and merchandising products for select Direct-Store-Delivery grocery customers. Offering engaging service and product information about PCR and building other sales skills to support those efforts. Assesses inventory needs and processes coffee orders via mobile computer hardware. Verifies the accuracy of paperwork and assembles orders into boxes onsite in the delivery vehicle. Assesses and adjusts in-store inventory on an ongoing basis. Maintains sufficient coffee inventory levels in the delivery vehicle. Operates the delivery vehicle in a safe and courteous manner, complying with all federal, state, and local laws and company safety rules.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid Oregon driver’s license, a clean driving record, and the ability to be insured.

Organized and able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient with computers, mobile devices and hardware, and productivity software including Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, Rootstock ERP/Salesforce, and GPS mapping software.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
The employee is regularly required to sit while driving for long periods of time; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; balance; bend and reach with hands and arms; use feet to operate foot pedal operation; and talk or hear.
Occasionally required to climb ladders, sit, stoop, kneel, squat, crouch, or crawl.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

One year of prior experience as a driver is preferred.
One year of customer service experience or direct sales experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Efficiently utilizes mobile computer hardware to create and process accurate sales orders and invoices for each assigned grocery location.
Manages store inventory levels/par levels regularly and determines the quantity of coffee to deliver to each grocery location.
Stocks and maintains shelves and bulk coffee units.
Performs inventory counts of coffee stock in the delivery vehicle on a bi-monthly basis.
Maintains open communication with all departments to ensure the highest level of customer service and reduce order/delivery mistakes.
Organizes delivery schedule for assigned grocery locations to maximize sales and efficient route planning
Regularly cleans bulk bins and tidies bulk fixture weekly in all locations
Adheres to the organization’s food safety program at all times.
Executes store visit checklist, ensuring all delivery steps are completed prior to departure
Works with National Accounts Manager on monthly KPI reporting, promotional documentation and new item launch set ups
Develops and maintains strong relationships with key store personnel (Store Managers, Department Managers and Staff) – regularly seeking additional placement opportunities to drive incremental sales
Occasionally conducts demo events, brewing coffee and sampling to customers
Maintains the interior and exterior of the delivery vehicle in a clean and sanitary fashion.
Reports vehicle maintenance issues to supervisor in a timely manner.
Appropriately uses building keys and alarm system to maintain the security of company property.
Performs other related duties as assigned by NAM.
