About The Position

Banks Construction Company is seeking a Field Safety Coordinator to join our Safety & Development Group. The ideal candidate will have experience in bridge, grading, and heavy highway construction projects. As a Field Safety Coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of all personnel on the job site and ensuring compliance with all safety regulations. Responsibilities: Hazard Recognition and Continuous Improvement Conduct regular safety walks of job sites identifying hazards and operational struggles. Identify, implement and execute direct controls and safeguards Document findings and ensure timely follow-up to address identified deficiencies. Learn the work practices by working alongside our crews and involving them in the creation of solutions. Safety Training and Coaching: Assist in training of all employees in area of safety. Address safety violations or concerns promptly through coaching and training. Collaborate with management and stakeholders to implement safety initiatives and process improvements. Incident Investigation and Reporting: Investigate assigned incidents, good catches and near misses to determine root causes and prevent recurrence. Document incident investigation findings and prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies as required. Collaborate and learn with the people that do the work to identify the operational struggles that caused the incident and implement corrective actions and follow-up procedures to solve the struggle. Policy Development and Compliance: Assist in the development of comprehensive safety policies and procedures. Ensure that safety policies are compliant with relevant regulations and industry best practices. The applicant hired for this position will be expected to: Maintain a servant attitude and serve the people of the company. Consistently display a positive attitude and practice extreme ownership of assigned tasks. Communicate clearly with field personnel, assisting supervisors with discussing safety concerns with their crews. Spend a majority of your time in the field with our people. Be available for response during on-call hours. Be confident in assigned duties and lead from the front. Constantly be learning and improving yourself and those around you. Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a full-time safety role on bridge, grading, and heavy highway construction projects.
  • OSHA 30 Construction
  • CHST, ASP or other equivalent certification or the ability to obtain within one year of employment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field preferred
