The Construction Engineering and Inspection team is crucial in ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget, providing full-service construction administration and specialized inspection and testing for various infrastructure projects. This role is for a Field Project Representative 2, who will be a vital part of delivering impactful infrastructure and construction projects. The successful candidate will thrive in dynamic field environments, ensuring quality, compliance, and precision throughout the construction process. Responsibilities include construction observation, documentation, and administrative duties, interpreting contract plans and specifications, observing and inspecting contractor work for compliance, and maintaining detailed project records. This hands-on, field-based position requires willingness to travel for extended periods and potentially work night shifts and weekends. The role also involves close collaboration with other Construction Engineering and Inspection staff on field administration tasks like RFIs and change orders.

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2 years of experience required
  • 1 year of experience required with an advanced degree
  • Minimum certifications required by local jurisdiction (e.g., ODOT General Inspector, ADA Inspector) required
  • Valid driver’s license is required to support legitimate business purposes
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to create and interpret graphs and understand statistical analysis
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred

  • Developed understanding of Market Sector Software (AASHTOWare, DocExpress, local agency data management software, Newforma)

Responsibilities

  • Interpret contract plans and specifications
  • Observe and inspect contractor work for compliance
  • Maintain detailed project records, including notes, reports, and pay requests
  • Collaborate closely with other Construction Engineering and Inspection staff
  • Support field administration tasks such as RFIs and change orders
  • Perform basic technical tasks with market sector with limited oversight
  • Perform quality control of basic deliverables
  • Produce daily construction reports and project documentation under limited direction/oversight from others
  • Produce submittal reviews under limited direction/oversight from others
  • Produce in-service inspection reports under limited direction/oversight from others
  • Produce force account procedures for extra work under limited direction/oversight from others
  • Monitor results on moderately complex projects
  • Understand and employ the relationship/order of precedence of contract documents
  • Understand and employ materials testing and requirements
  • Understand and employ quantity and quality tracking
  • Respond to emails, attend meetings, and answer questions/comments with limited autonomy
  • Perform other duties as assigned
