The Construction Engineering and Inspection team focuses on safely, on time, and within budget project delivery, providing full-service construction administration, specialized inspection, and testing services for various infrastructure. The Field Project Representative 2 will be a vital part of delivering impactful infrastructure and construction projects, ensuring quality, compliance, and precision. This role involves construction observation, documentation, and administrative duties, including interpreting contract plans and specifications, observing and inspecting contractor work for compliance, and maintaining detailed project records. This is a hands-on, field-based position requiring travel, and potentially night shifts and weekends, collaborating with other Construction Engineering and Inspection staff on field administration tasks like RFIs and change orders.

Requirements

Developing proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Developed understanding of Market Sector Software (AASHTOWare, DocExpress, local agency data management software, Newforma)
Solid understanding of technical fundamentals
Performs basic technical tasks with market sector with limited oversight
Performs quality control of basic deliverables
Eager to learn and expand skill set
Team player who follows the direction of others, asks good questions, retains information provided, and shares information with those less experienced
Produces daily construction reports and project documentation under limited direction/oversight from others
Performs submittal reviews under limited direction/oversight from others
Produces in-service inspection reports under limited direction/oversight from others
Performs force account procedures for extra work under limited direction/oversight from others
Moderate understanding of scopes, schedules, and budgets
With guidance, predicts the level of effort for individual tasks and successfully deliver tasks within that level of effort
Understands and employs the relationship/order of precedence of contract documents
Understands and employs materials testing and requirements
Understands and employs quantity and quality tracking
High School Diploma or GED required
2 years of experience required
Minimum certifications required by local jurisdiction (e.g., ODOT General Inspector, ADA Inspector) required
Valid driver’s license is required to support legitimate business purposes
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to create and interpret graphs and understand statistical analysis

Responsibilities

Interpret contract plans and specifications
Observe and inspect contractor work for compliance
Maintain detailed project records—including notes, reports, and pay requests
Collaborate closely with other Construction Engineering and Inspection staff, supporting field administration tasks such as RFIs, change orders, and more
Perform moderately complex technical work on projects for the assigned market sector
Produce daily construction reports and project documentation
Perform submittal reviews
Produce in-service inspection reports
Perform force account procedures for extra work
Monitor results on moderately complex projects
Respond to emails, attend meetings, and answer questions/comments with limited autonomy in client interactions
Perform other duties as assigned
