About The Position

Under the supervision of the immediate manager, participates in the operations, conservation, Education, and research activities at the Gault Nature Reserve, located in Mont-Saint-Hilaire (40 km from downtown Montreal).

Requirements

High School Diploma
Enrolled in a full-time program at McGill University or newly graduate McGill student
Communication skills
Autonomous and resourcefulness
Strong organization skills and attention to detail

Nice To Haves

Bilingualism (English/French), an asset
Knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS) to analyze and visualize spatial data is an asset.

Responsibilities

Engages in conservation projects to preserve the mountain’s fauna and flora.
Participates in the management of invasive plants.
Assists with data collection for research purposes.
Supports in data entry and processing in established inventory databases.
Participates in public awareness projects (i.e., holding kiosks on research projects, guided tours).
Helps maintain the laboratories and research equipment of the Reserve.
Patrols and monitors the trails at the Gault Nature Reserve.
Performs landscaping, trail maintenance, and ecological restoration projects which may require use of specialized equipment or vehicles.
Assists with land and plot preparation (soil tilling, rock picking, seeding, weeding, irrigation, and drainage).
Carries out general maintenance tasks (i.e., painting and repairs).
