Field Interviewers on the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) are responsible for traveling frequently to selected locations to recruit study participants, making in-person contact with selected respondents to discuss the study, answer questions, and obtain participation. They perform proper administration of computer-assisted interviews, collecting confidential information, and administering standardized questionnaires. The role also involves independently managing administrative duties, including participating in conference calls, completing online trainings, transmitting data, and maintaining project equipment updates. Interviewers must assume full and legal responsibility for project-issued equipment and safeguard participant incentives and project materials. They are also responsible for tracking participant incentives and submitting timely and accurate Time & Expense reports. Virtual attendance at scheduled meetings and weekly calls with a Field Supervisor is required. The position involves approaching selected households without prior appointment and working and driving after dark, adhering to a schedule set by the Field Supervisor for respondent contact times, and providing availability for field observations.
