About The Position

Nextlink is a Hudson Oaks, Texas-based Internet Service Provider (ISP) delivering High Speed Internet and Voice Services throughout multiple states to residential, business, K-12 Education and government customers. They believe in delivering an overall customer experience that their competitors cannot match. The Field Installation Technician position requires excellent customer service skills and technical ability. This role involves completing customer installations, service visits, on-site troubleshooting, and recovery of equipment. Work is performed on site at customer locations, encompassing both the physical installation of Internet equipment and the technical portion of updating databases.

Ability to work independently, using sound judgement principles.
Must demonstrate accountability in order to set priorities, organize workload, handle multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
Ability to work within a fast-paced, high-change environment while managing multiple interruptions and adjustments to priorities throughout the day.
Must demonstrate a desire to learn, supported with a love for technology.
Must pass a drug screening test and a criminal background check.
Must be able to use tools to install equipment.
High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

Responsibilities

Perform site surveys for potential customers to evaluate serviceability.
Diagnose customer problems at service calls and restore functional service to existing customers.
Install new customers with Internet service based on technology available, which includes mounting equipment at or above roof height, running Cat5-E or Fiber Optic cable from outside to the customer’s desired location.
Configure routers and customer computers for access to Internet services.
Perform equipment upgrades for existing customers
Perform other duties as assigned
