About The Position

The Field Communications Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting field-based communication and networking systems that support operational infrastructure. This role works hands-on with wireless communication equipment, networking devices, and power systems in outdoor environments. The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated, technically skilled, and comfortable working independently in remote field locations.

Requirements

  • Experience with outdoor wireless communication systems (Hitachi TropOS, Cambium, etc.)
  • Basic networking knowledge including: IP addressing VLANs Connectivity troubleshooting
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Comfortable working at heights when required
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Reliable and self-motivated
  • Must meet conditional job offer requirements including background, drug test, MVR, fit for duty and agility.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain field communication equipment including: Wireless radios (e.g., Hitachi TropOS, Cambium point-to-multipoint systems)
  • Network switches and connectivity hardware
  • Surveillance and security camera systems
  • Solar-powered systems and related components
  • Perform minor electrical work, primarily involving 24V and 48V DC systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment and network issues in a timely and efficient manner
  • Create, update, and manage service tickets with accurate and detailed information
  • Maintain clear and thorough documentation of installations, repairs, and system changes
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety and operational standards
