POSITION SUMMARY: Advanced Energy is looking for an experienced and competitive Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to help drive sales growth in the industrial and medical power supply segment. The FAE will collaborate with the sales team, marketing, and design engineers to provide highly differentiated technical support to our customers to drive design wins at a diverse set of applications and customers in the North Central region.

Requirements

  • Charismatic communicator that can advocate for customers to an internal audience and for the company to the customer
  • Solid problem-solving methodology
  • A passionate and curious technologist with an ability to learn and adapt to industry trends
  • Extensive knowledge of power electronics with ability to qualify, test, modify, and debug power supplies in the lab as needed
  • Basic knowledge of digital communication bus such as I2C bus and firmware reloading/rebooting experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of power electronics design and/or applications experience
  • BSEE degree

Responsibilities

  • FAE will support the adoption of Advanced Energy power solutions at our customers at all stages of the engagement process from presales activity to postproduction/installation support.
  • AE solution recommendations, system architecture guidance, schematic review, on-site customer qualification & debug support, etc....
  • Through developing engineering relationships with our customers, the FAE will identify and communicate technical requirements for new applications or customer needs that aren’t served by the current portfolio to the product development.
  • FAE input is critical in definition of new products and roadmap.
  • FAEs regularly provide technology updates and product training to customers, sales, and distribution.
  • As a trusted customer advocate, FAEs must have the confidence and persuasive skills to earn the respect of engineering leaders both internally and with the customer.
  • The FAEs technical perspective heavily influences the sales strategy.
