About The Position

This role provides top-tier technical, operational, and project advisory leadership across plutonium facilities and DOE/NNSA capital projects. The Fellow Technical Advisor serves as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, mentors project and engineering leaders, and provides oversight across project execution, nuclear operations, and chemical process systems. This is not a project controls role alone and not a pure engineering role. It is a career-capstone advisory position requiring deep DOE plutonium processing experience, NNSA project knowledge, and hands-on facility expertise.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a technical field with 25+ years of broad engineering, operations, and strategic experience OR Bachelor's degree in a technical field with 30+ years of experience
  • 20+ years working in plutonium facilities or plutonium projects
  • 15+ years of DOE O 413.3B project management experience
  • 5+ years supporting DOE/NNSA capital line-item projects
  • 30+ years of DOE nuclear material processing experience
  • Strong working knowledge of nuclear materials (Pu-239, Pu-238, Np-237, U-233, HEU, LEU, etc.)
  • Ability to perform field walkdowns in active nuclear facilities
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance

Nice To Haves

  • PMP certification
  • Professional Engineer (PE), South Carolina
  • Prior DOE site experience at SRS strongly preferred
  • Prior L or Q clearance (active not required to start)

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advisory support in project execution, strategic planning, scheduling, estimating, and EVMS
  • Mentor project managers and project controls staff on DOE O 413.3B, IPRs, APRs, ICEs, and CD-3x packages
  • Lead or participate in major project and readiness reviews (Red/Green teams, IPR, APR)
  • Advise leadership on integrated team structures, mission objectives, and performance evaluation
  • Provide consultation on plutonium facility operations, including multi-shift ops, waste management, radiological operations, and constructability
  • Perform organizational and leadership assessments and interface with NNSA HQ
  • Provide technical oversight and leadership for H-Canyon and HB-Line nuclear materials processing operations
  • Support safety basis strategy, engineering reviews, and DNFSB interactions
  • Mentor engineers and lead technical teams resolving division-wide issues
