About The Position
Seeking a senior-level Structural Analyst to provide advanced structural analysis and design support for DOE-regulated nuclear facilities. This role requires deep technical expertise, leadership in solving complex engineering problems, and hands-on experience with seismic, dynamic, and extreme load analyses in high-consequence environments.
Requirements
- Advanced degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with applicable experience
- PhD with approximately 10 years of experience, or MS with approximately 12 years of experience, or BS with approximately 15 years of experience
- Minimum of 8 years of recent experience performing design and analysis for NRC or DOE regulated nuclear facilities
- Demonstrated experience with finite element analysis
- Working knowledge of structural analysis tools such as STAAD, ANSYS, ABAQUS, or equivalent
- Strong working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including: IBC AISC (ASD, LRFD, N690) ACI 318 and 349 ASCE 4, 7, and 43
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
Nice To Haves
- Prior Savannah River Site experience
- Active or recent DOE L or Q clearance within the past two years
- Professional Engineer registration in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Experience with blast, detonation, or deflagration structural analysis
- Experience with DOE Natural Phenomena Hazard criteria and DOE Standard 1020
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced structural analysis and design for buildings and structures under normal and accident loading conditions
- Conduct dynamic seismic analysis including response spectra, time-history analysis, and in-structure response spectra development
- Analyze structural response to tornado wind loads, missile penetration, flood, rain, and snow events
- Apply finite element analysis methods to complex structural systems
- Lead or support task teams addressing complex technical challenges
- Develop technical solutions using DOE and nuclear industry codes and standards
- Prepare technical reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders
- Perform field walk-downs to support engineering evaluations and design validation
- Execute all work using site-specific engineering processes and procedures
