About The Position

This position is located within the Airport’s Finance section and works in close partnership with the Airport’s Planning and Development division to ensure that projects supported by federal and state funding fully comply with applicable requirements. The role is responsible for managing grant and financial activities throughout the project lifecycle, including tracking eligible expenditures, monitoring grant budgets, and maintaining compliance documentation for audits and reporting. In addition, the position supports the Airport’s community-facing efforts by participating in outreach events related to Airport projects, helping communicate project goals, funding impacts, and program updates to stakeholders and the public. This position is located in the Financial Management Section of the Administration Division of the Airports Department within the City of Oklahoma City. Work involves utilizing well-developed skills in the areas of research, verbal and written communication and knowledge of the procedures, methodologies and objectives of City long range planning. Duties and responsibilities of the position revolve around federal grant planning and management as they relate to community development goals. The employee will be primarily responsible for providing technical assistance in the management of grant funding and in the review and preparation of various grant documents and reimbursements. Essential job functions include: conducting research, monitoring, evaluating and technically assisting on grant funded projects. The Federal Planning Specialist is also responsible for the writing and presentation of formal technical reports and general correspondence related to grant funded projects. The employee works with minimal supervision and is subject to supervisory review.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of grants management
  • Skill in verbal and written communication

  • Skill in interpreting and explaining federal funding policies and regulations
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a wide variety of individuals
  • Skill in utilizing research techniques and methods of statistical evaluation
  • Skill in analyzing and making recommendations on the basis of research data
  • Ability to travel

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in accounting or finance field
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience managing federal grant projects
  • Proficient in Excel and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
  • Skilled in preparing outreach materials and effectively engaging with community stakeholders
