About The Position
Farm Attendant SUMMARY This position will have the primary responsibility of performing a variety of labor tasks related to operating and maintaining a working farm. This role will contribute to the organization as an active business partner that is responsible for supporting the company's goals, objectives, vision, mission, and values. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Job duties include; although are not limited to: Prepare pots for seeding Seeding and watering Planting Help with installing trellis and ground cover/weed block Weeding Harvesting Watering of flower gardens and beds Animal care (let animals out, feed and water) Clean and maintain sanitation of barns, pens, stalls, brooders, water tanks and other animal facilities Harvest vegetables, herbs and flowers for CSA and run Farm Stand Collect and clean eggs for sale at CSA and Restaurant Special farm projects Perform additional duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent education required General farm labor experience preferred Experience working with and caring for animals (chickens, pigs, etc.) preferred. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions Ability to follow directions well, make quick decisions, and keep organized while under pressure Must have a positive attitude, be self-motivated, polite, energetic and a willing learner Excellent teamwork and communication skills. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Most tasks are performed outdoors in variable weather conditions, including hot, cold, windy and wet weather. Temperature can be extreme but is usually moderate. Frequently works near moving/mechanical parts. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks. Must be physically able to lift up to 50 lbs. Also, must be physically able to walk without assistance on various surfaces for an extended period of time.
