About The Position

Family Support WorkerDepartment of Children and FamiliesNew Port Richey, FLPasco CountyOpen CompetitiveWork Day is 8:00 am – 5:00 pmWill include nights, weekends and holidays on an on-call basis.Current employees will be compensated in accordance with the DCF salary policy. What you will do:• Assists with transportation needs in Child Protective Investigation, including picking up medical records, transporting of children to placements, scheduling and transporting of children to CPT interviews and exams and other medical appointments.• Completing complex and varied assignments including child transportation and supervision, data collection, evaluation of information, report development, tracking of assignments, and other related duties such as typing, copying, filing, and with minimal instruction.• Provides supervision for children in the office• Maintain vehicle logs and records for the current fleet vehicles assigned to Hillsborough County.• Services as a backup to staff, including Secretary Specialist, Records Technician, and the Staff Assistant. Backup duties include, but are not limited to switchboard coverage, completion of travel reimbursements, maintaining file room, fingerprinting activities, and diligent search.• Attend meetings and trainings.How you will make an impact:• Assist investigators in maintaining caseload of families receiving social services.• Assist clients in completing forms for services and benefits.• Assist individuals and/or families in providing and arranging for social, medical, education, employment and training, day care services and housing.• Provide materials to individuals and/or families about nutrition, infant development and parenting skills.• Ensure immunizations and well-baby visits are received in a timely manner.• Assist individuals and/or families in learning how to access community services.• Work with family to develop family support plan.• Conduct interviews to collect household data in order to assist household members.• Coordinate necessary transportation for families.• Maintain and updates client files.• Participate in trainings• Make referrals for emergency ongoing services within the agency and to other agencies.• Maintain liaison with community agencies and service organizations in order to determine the results of services rendered to individual clients.• Provide phone and client contact support.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must possess operational private vehicle for use in the performance of daily work activities. Selected applicants are required to provide proof of vehicle registration and documentation of the appropriate insurance coverage.
  • Knowledge of basic childcare practices.
  • Knowledge of elderly care practices.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of effective communication.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Knowledge of program objectives.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic.
  • Skill in basic counseling techniques.
  • Ability to assist clients in accessing community resource services.
  • Ability to understand and apply the methods and practices used in medical, nursing, nutrition, child development or childcare settings.
