Saxton & Stump is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Family Law Paralegal to support our growing practice in Charleston, SC. This role is critical to delivering high-quality legal services to clients navigating complex and often sensitive family law matters. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates strong ownership of their work, and is committed to supporting attorneys in achieving excellent client outcomes while maintaining high productivity and billable performance.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of experience as a paralegal, with South Carolina family court/law experience (required)
  • Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of family law procedures, court rules, and filings in South Carolina
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal practice management systems
  • Maintain consistent daily time entry and meet established billable hour expectations
  • Demonstrate accountability, responsiveness, and proactive communication
  • Support attorneys in meeting case deadlines and client service expectations
  • Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team environment
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all client interactions

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and file legal documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, financial declarations, and discovery materials
  • Manage and organize case files in Clio and document storage in iManage
  • Coordinate and track deadlines, court filings, and case calendars
  • Assist attorneys in trial preparation, including exhibit preparation, witness coordination, and trial binders
  • Communicate professionally with clients, courts, and opposing counsel
  • Support discovery processes, including drafting interrogatories, requests for production, and compiling responses
  • Maintain accurate and timely daily billable time entry. Goal is 1200 hours
  • Assist with case strategy execution by ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and proactively
  • Coordinate scheduling for hearings, mediations, depositions, and client meetings
