Join our dynamic Engagement Team in the Hood River Self Sufficiency Office and make a meaningful impact as a Family Coach! Summary of Duties As a Family Coach (Human Service Case Manager) you will: Conduct interviews to determine family needs and eligibility, and complete program applications for program benefits and, if eligible, issues appropriate support. Engage clients in family evaluation of strengths and jointly develop a case plan and identify the steps the family will take towards self-sufficiency and meeting their basic needs. Monitor progress, needs, and makes necessary modifications to the case plan. Initiate and participate in case staffing, employment readiness, life skills training, and supports job search as needed. Assist with crisis and safety planning for individuals experiencing domestic violence. Explore alternate resources and link clients to community services and may also assist with supporting resources and services within the community.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in a Behavioral Science, Social Science, or a closely related field OR A Bachelor's degree in any field and one year of human services related experience (i.e., work providing assistance to individuals and groups with issues such as economically disadvantaged, employment, abuse and neglect, substance abuse, aging, disabilities, prevention, health, cultural competencies, inadequate housing) OR An Associates degree in a Behavioral Science, Social Science or a closely related field AND two years of human services related experience (i.e., work providing assistance to individuals and groups with issues such as economically disadvantaged, employment, abuse and neglect, substance abuse, aging, disabilities, prevention, health, cultural competencies, inadequate housing) OR Three years of human services related experience (i.e., work providing assistance to individuals and groups with issues such as economically disadvantaged, employment, abuse and neglect, substance abuse, aging, disabilities, prevention, health, cultural competencies, inadequate housing).
  • Bilingual Spanish Required
  • Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting families with case management tools and resources.
  • Experience creating and maintaining written documentation of activities concerning individual client cases.
  • Experience with case management and assessing customers’ strengths & service needs.
  • Experience in communicating, establishing boundaries and setting realistic goals/milestones.
  • Experience explaining complex rules, regulations, processes, and procedures both verbally and in written communications.
