About The Position

The Department of Mechanical and Civil Engineering (www.uvu.edu/cet/mce) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in transportation systems or traffic engineering to begin August 2026. The civil engineering faculty member develops and teaches undergraduate courses, such as pre-engineering courses, seminar courses, core civil engineering courses, laboratory courses, open-ended design courses, and electives in their respective specialty area. The faculty member engages in scholarly activities that contribute to the mission of the university, department, and profession. In addition, the faculty provides service at the department, college, and university levels and in professional organizations. Utah Valley University places a strong emphasis on teaching. Requirements

Graduation from an accredited institution with a Bachelor's of Science and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, or closely related areas.
Knowledge and experience in civil engineering, with an emphasis in transportation systems or traffic engineering.
Familiarity with civil engineering BS curricula requirements, especially as it applies to ABET accreditation.
Excellent organizational and time management skills

Ability to engage, motivate, and evaluate students.
Adaptive approach to learning, planning, refining, and delivering diverse civil engineering course content.

Possession or demonstrated pursuit of a P.E. or S.E. license.

Responsibilities

Instructs, manages, and supervises individuals and groups in classrooms, online, and laboratories, through demonstration, discussion, visual aids, individualized instruction, lectures, and other appropriate methods for educational delivery.
Plans, prepares, and follows an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught. Prepares instructional materials. Evaluates student performance using appropriate testing and grading procedures.
Engages in scholarly activities including applied research and produces scholarly/creative work consistent with disciplinary specialization and the academic goals of the department.
Serves the department, college, and university by attending departmental meetings, working on committees, and accepting other service appointments.
