About The Position

George Fox University announces a tenure-track faculty position in civil engineering, to begin in August 2025. We seek applicants with the ability to teach in a broad range of undergraduate civil engineering courses, giving priority to candidates with expertise in one or more of the following specializations: geotechnical, construction and/or transportation engineering. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to engage in appropriate professional and scholarly activities, supervise internships, advise students, perform undergraduate research, and carry out other faculty responsibilities. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field required. Applicants who are A.B.D in a Ph.D program will be considered.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellence in teaching.
  • A record of relevant scholarship.
  • A commitment to the University's Theology of Racial and Ethnic Diversity .

Responsibilities

  • Teaching a broad range of undergraduate courses within the curriculum of the Department of Mechanical, Civil and Biomedical Engineering in areas such as geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering, construction management, surveying, AutoCAD/Civil3D and engineering economics.
  • Developing and sustaining an ongoing program of relevant scholarship.
  • Participating in the work of the department and the university, including advising and serving on university committees as needed.
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience working cross culturally with respect, appreciation and humility.
  • Other duties as assigned.
