About The Position

D’Youville University College of Osteopathic Medicine invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Microbiology and Immunology. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of microbiology, immunology, host-pathogen interactions, and antimicrobial pharmacology within the preclinical osteopathic medical curriculum. This position is designed to support integrated systems-based teaching and to strengthen vertical integration between microbiology, immunology, and pharmacology, ensuring alignment with osteopathic education standards and COMLEX expectations.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Microbiology, Immunology, or closely related biomedical discipline.
  • Completion of postdoctoral training (minimum one fellowship; advanced postdoctoral training preferred).
  • Demonstrated expertise in microbial pathogenesis, host immune mechanisms, and antimicrobial pharmacology.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience at the medical or graduate level training.
  • Evidence of scholarly productivity and research experience.

  • Postdoctoral fellowships in microbiology, immunology, and/or pharmacology.
  • Experience integrating microbiology and immunology within a systems-based medical curriculum.
  • Familiarity with COMLEX expectations and NBOME blueprinting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver microbiology and immunology content in coordination with departmental leadership.
  • Teach bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology, host immune responses, inflammation, hypersensitivity, immunodeficiency, and vaccine principles.
  • Integrate antimicrobial pharmacology principles into microbiology instruction, emphasizing mechanism of action, resistance patterns, and clinical decision-making.
  • Contribute to case-based, systems-based, and small-group instruction.
  • Develop assessment materials aligned with COMLEX preparation and NBOME blueprinting.
  • Mentor and advise medical students in academic progression and scholarly development.
  • Engage in scholarly activity in microbiology, immunology, pharmacology, or medical education.
  • Serve on College committees and contribute to accreditation and institutional initiatives.
