About The Position

Dallas College’s North Lake Campus Upward Bound Program is seeking instructors for the 2026 Summer Academic Enrichment Program to teach non-credit courses such as English Composition and Literature, Math, Laboratory Science, and Foreign Language. The TRIO Upward Bound Program aims to strengthen the academic skills of rising 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students, preparing them for high school completion, post-secondary enrollment, and successful graduation. This Academic Enrichment Program is a six-week, grant-funded initiative designed to simulate a college experience. Each course meets three hours per week in a Monday/Wednesday or a Tuesday/Thursday format, totaling 180 instructional minutes per week. Instructors may have the opportunity to teach multiple courses. The program will run from June 1, 2026, through July 10, 2026.

Requirements

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with students and staff in a teaching environment
  • Demonstrated skills successfully working with students and staff through experiences such as formal training and past work experiences
  • Ability to provide quality customer service
  • Bachelor's degree and teacher certification or Master's degree postsecondary environment in the related discipline
  • One year of experience working with underserved students in the related area of instruction
  • Official transcripts will be required at time of interview
  • Subject to a criminal background check
  • Some positions may be subject to a fingerprint check

Responsibilities

  • Providing course syllabi (with the minimum college requirement for the non-credit courses, institutional holidays, grading policy, course information, attendance requirements, books and resource materials, and other institutional or accreditation information, etc.)
  • Maintains accurate records for reporting grades and attendance
  • Provides student evaluations in accordance with institutional guidelines and accreditation/licensure body (if applicable)
  • Meets required deadlines for submitting required end of course documentation to the division office
  • Completed required Dallas College professional development training hours per academic year
  • Performs other job duties as assigned
