The Facility Program Manager (Whitespace Engineering and Site Coordinator) supports client operations with the day-to-day coordination and implementation of activities pertaining to the oversight of white space deployment and engineering. This individual will also serve as the primary liaison for data center operations, including site audits and vendor management activities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Facilities Management, Engineering, or equivalent field of study, OR equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in facility management, data center operations, or related technical field
  • Experience with vendor management and contract administration
  • Working knowledge of data center operations and system configurations
  • Knowledge of fundamental electrical and mechanical data center operations
  • Electrical & Mechanical Knowledge: Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical one-line diagrams
  • Software Proficiency: Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Visio, along with working knowledge of SharePoint
  • Facility Management Systems: Proficiency in facility management software systems and databases
  • Change Management: Understanding of change management processes and ITIL frameworks
  • Standards Knowledge: Knowledge of data center standards and best practices (ASHRAE, TIA-942, etc.)
  • Infrastructure Understanding: Familiarity with electrical systems, HVAC, critical infrastructure components, and white space engineering
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders and explain technical concepts clearly
  • Organization: Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize multiple concurrent projects
  • Self-Management: Self-driven with high proficiency in time management and independent work capability
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in documentation, financial reconciliation, and compliance tracking

  • Availability: Must be available 24x7x365 for emergency response and critical issues
  • Travel: Ability to travel up to 10% of the time to various facility locations
  • Data Center Environment: Work in data center environment with potential exposure to noise, temperature variations, and electrical equipment
  • Lifting Requirements: Occasional lifting of equipment or supplies up to 50 pounds
  • Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain required security clearances and facility access credentials

Responsibilities

  • White Space Oversight: Provide comprehensive oversight and coordination of white space activities including vendor management, rack and stack operations, infrastructure cabling, placement, cooling, and power deployments
  • Design & Engineering: Design, engineer, and coordinate build-out of white space deployments including cabinets, racks, structured cabling, power distribution from bus or receptacle to power strips, and air containment systems
  • Power Management: Support and manage rack and hardware SKU power allocation, documentation, and validation to ensure optimal capacity utilization
  • Code Compliance: Document electrical installations and decommissions requiring local authority sign-off, ensuring all installations meet or exceed local code requirements
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinate with various stakeholders and local authorities having jurisdiction for installation and power rack approvals
  • Technical Problem Solving: Analyze and resolve complex white space deployment issues, providing innovative solutions to technical challenges
  • Vendor Activity Coordination: Oversee and manage all vendor activities within data center facilities, ensuring compliance with security protocols and operational procedures
  • Data Center Vendor Management: Manage vendors operating in data center spaces, including performance monitoring and contract compliance
  • Access Management: Facilitate orientation processes for new team members and visitors.
  • Access Provisioning & Removal: Coordinate timely granting and revocation of data center access credentials for personnel and visitors based on business requirements and security protocols
  • Project Coordination: Manage white space deployment projects from initiation through completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards
  • Timeline Management: Develop and maintain project schedules, coordinate resources, and ensure timely project delivery
  • Invoice Management: Manage projects and ensure timely invoicing, verify receipt and completeness of services and materials before approving vendor invoices
  • Financial Reconciliation: Ensure accuracy of invoice totals against purchase order balances and contracted rates
  • Purchase Order Management: Track PO status, delivery confirmations, and budget utilization
  • Primary Client Interface: Serve as the primary point of contact with client Data Center Managers for all white space projects and facility operations
  • Client Issue Management: Document, manage, and appropriately escalate project and client issues and concerns through proper channels
  • Progress Reporting: Provide ongoing updates to internal teams and clients regarding white space deployment project status and progress
  • Technical Communication: Explain complex technical information in clear, understandable terms to both internal team members and external clients
  • Industry Trends: Evaluate industry trends as new standards emerge for best practices, coordinate opportunities with clients and share applicable information
  • Site Audit Liaison: Serve as primary point of contact between colocation (COLO) providers and internal audit teams during facility assessments
  • Audit Coordination: Schedule, facilitate, and support site audits, ensuring all required documentation and access is available
  • Recommendation Tracking: Maintain comprehensive tracking systems for audit recommendations, monitor implementation progress, and provide regular status updates
  • Communication Management: Ensure clear, timely communication of audit findings, remediation plans, and completion status to audit teams and Data Center Services (DCS) team
  • Service Request Support: Process and coordinate service requests within client spaces, ensuring timely resolution and client satisfaction
  • Space Planning: Review and analyze space and power requests to optimize facility utilization and capacity planning
  • Rack Preparation: Ensure physical spaces are properly prepared for incoming equipment installations, including power, cooling, and network connectivity
  • Capacity Forecasting: Monitor and maintain awareness of projected space requirements, capacity forecasts, and potential space givebacks
  • Change Management: Provide comprehensive support throughout the change management process, ensuring all modifications follow established protocols and documentation requirements
