About The Position

The Facility Maintenance Mechanic I is responsible for assisting in maintaining the boilers, chiller systems, air compressors, cooling towers, wastewater treatment system, water softeners, and other miscellaneous duties pertaining to the operation and maintenance of an Aseptic Food beverage plant. This role involves conducting preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and assisting with various projects. The technician will work closely with others to help maintain a 24/7 operation where minimizing downtime is crucial. Essential functions include properly monitoring the facility's boiler in accordance with state regulations, which may involve standing watch in a 24/7 environment on a fixed or rotating schedule. The role also requires making regular rounds of mechanical and air handling rooms, performing unscheduled and preventive maintenance on building, facility, and production equipment, and general facility upkeep. The technician will organize and maintain inventory, monitor Process and Utility systems, help develop standard operating procedures, and maintain equipment history files to improve maintenance programs. Compliance with Health and Safety programs and Quality Assurance System guidelines is mandatory, and participation in off-hours emergency coverage is expected.

Requirements

  • GED or High School Diploma.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in equipment maintenance work related to trades such as mechanical, electrical, HVAC and/or plumbing.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instruction.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of shop math.
  • Knowledge of High-Pressure Boiler Systems.
  • Knowledge of HVAC Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining the boilers.
  • Work with chiller systems, air compressors, cooling towers, wastewater treatment system, water softeners, and other miscellaneous duties pertaining to the operation and maintenance of an Aseptic Food beverage plant.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Assist with other projects as assigned.
  • Properly monitor the facilities boiler in accordance with state regulations.
  • Stand watch in a 24/7 environment on either a fixed or rotating schedule.
  • Make rounds every two hours of the mechanical room and the air handling room, checking for any problems with the machinery.
  • Perform unscheduled and preventive maintenance building and facility and production equipment.
  • Perform general facility upkeep such as repairing doors, walls, floors, ceilings and other related building duties.
  • Organize and maintain inventory of all supplies needed for facility maintenance.
  • Monitor Process and Utility systems and equipment to ensure continuous efficient and reliable operations.
  • Help develop departmental standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain GMP and non-GMP equipment history files to develop preventative and predictive maintenance programs and procedures to reduce mechanical downtime and to ensure that breakdown and repairs are minimized.
  • Comply with all Health and Safety programs adhering to all Quality Assurance System guidelines.
  • Participate in off-hours emergency coverage, as needed.
  • Perform scheduled and corrective maintenance of complex equipment and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with quality system procedures related to the Facility equipment and general day to day operations.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by immediate supervisor.
