About The Position

The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates 13 correctional facilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of the DOC is to protect the citizens of the commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure, and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior.

The Blackburn Correctional Complex (BCC) is seeking applicants for a Facility Maintenance Supervisor II position to perform maintenance duties on the grounds of the institution and determines work assignment to the inmate workers assisting in maintenance responsibilities.

Requirements

• EDUCATION: High school graduate.
• EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have five years of building maintenance, grounds maintenance, general trades, skilled trades, moving services or mechanical maintenance experience. Some of the required experience must include both records keeping experience and limited or full responsibility for work of others.
• Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Formal training in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.
• SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE

Responsibilities

• Oversees the institutional motor pool, making sure vehicles are being maintained and all paperwork is completed correctly.
• Prioritizes and verifies completions of work orders.
• Requisitions maintenance tools and supplies as needed.
• Supervises contractors when on institutional grounds during maintenance emergencies.
• Tracks assignment of tools and parts.
