About The Position

The purpose of this classification is to lead and coordinate activities and staff at the Orangeburg City Gym facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Parks & Recreation, Leisure Services or a related field required
  • Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina driver’s license.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all City or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and coordinates daily work activities of assigned crew or co-workers
  • Coordinates, facilitates, and implements recreation programs and activities that meet the ever-changing needs and physical, social and emotional interests of the community
  • Coordinates facility use
  • Performs routine bookkeeping functions
  • Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies
  • Ensures the maintenance of assigned facility
  • Performs general customer service and administrative duties as required
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures
  • Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures
  • Operates a personal computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, Internet, e-mail, or other software; and operates general office or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.
  • Communicates with City officials, supervisor, other employees, clients, third party service contractors, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
