About The Position

At Vivo Healthcare West Orange, we believe in the joy of caring. We are looking for a reliable and personable individual to join our team as a bus driver. The primary function of this job is to safely transport residents to medical appointments, activities, and outings while providing assistance with boarding and securing mobility devices. Key duties include performing vehicle inspections, adhering to traffic laws, completing necessary paperwork, and maintaining clear communication with facility staff. The role requires patience, good communication skills, and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Requirements

• Driver's License: A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are mandatory.
• Certifications: CPR certification and a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license may be required by some employers.
• Physical Abilities: Must be able to perform repetitive physical tasks, such as standing, walking, and stooping, and be able to lift or push heavy items (e.g., wheelchairs).
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication, patience, and compassion are essential for interacting with residents and providing a comfortable and safe experience.
• Background Check: Be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Transportation: Safely drive residents to and from appointments, activities, and outings, following a set schedule and route.
• Passenger Assistance: Help residents with getting on and off the bus, including those with disabilities, and secure mobility devices like wheelchairs.
• Vehicle Safety: Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure all systems (brakes, lights, etc.) are working properly and emergency exits are clear.
• Compliance: Obey all traffic laws and facility safety regulations, and ensure all necessary paperwork and resident information are secure and accurate.
• Communication: Stay in communication with dispatch and facility staff, reporting back after residents have been safely returned to the facility.
• Maintenance: Keep the bus interior clean and report any maintenance issues.
