About The Position

General Definition: This is supervisory and hands-on operational work coordinating and performing a wide range of logistical, maintenance support, and facility-related services across County departments. The position is responsible for planning, assigning, and ensuring the timely completion of work activities that support day-to-day County operations. Work includes transportation of materials, records management support, grounds maintenance, light facility upkeep, and coordination of contracted services. Responsibilities are varied but generally routine in nature, with established procedures and standards. Assignments are received through verbal or written instructions, and independent judgment is exercised in prioritizing tasks and deploying staff. This position reports to a higher-level manager or department head.

Requirements

  • Good knowledge of general maintenance, groundskeeping, and facility support practices
  • Good knowledge of the safe operation of hand tools, power equipment, and light machinery
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks across different locations and prioritize effectively
  • Ability to supervise and work collaboratively with staff
  • Ability to follow and provide clear oral and written instructions
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with County staff, departments, and vendors
  • Knowledge of basic safety practices and procedures
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, and moving materials weighing 50 pounds or more on a regular basis, and working outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • Two to four years of experience in facilities support, maintenance, logistics, groundskeeping, or a related field
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and performs logistical support services, including: Picking up and delivering archive boxes between County facilities and Archives Transporting materials for secure shredding and disposal Delivering supplies (e.g., rock salt) to various County locations as needed
  • Provides hauling and recycling support services: Collects scrap materials and transports them to designated recycling facilities Responds to requests from County departments for removal of materials ("you call, we haul")
  • Assists with records and facilities transitions: Supports relocation and organization of archived materials Assists with facility cleanouts, material movement, and related tasks
  • Oversees and/or performs contracted cleaning coordination: Monitors and ensures completion of assigned cleaning contracts at designated facilities Verifies quality and completion of work performed
  • Performs and coordinates seasonal grounds maintenance, including: Grass cutting and general upkeep at County-owned properties Maintenance of cemeteries, administrative buildings, and other facilities Upkeep of retention areas, open spaces, and exterior grounds
  • Operates light equipment and tools related to maintenance, transport, and groundskeeping
  • Schedules daily and seasonal work activities; assigns tasks and ensures efficient use of time and resources
  • Ensures compliance with safety practices and proper use of equipment
  • Assists with basic facility maintenance tasks such as minor repairs, setup, and general upkeep
  • May assist with recordkeeping, work tracking, and basic administrative functions
  • Performs related work as required
